This work was published in connection with the exhibition: Kakiemon: Finest porcelain art from Japan, held at the Keramiekmuseum Princessehof, Leeuwarden from 13 December 2010 to 3 April 2011.

Fitski's aim with this book is to provide a handbook giving tools to enable the reader to judge pieces for themselves. He provides lists of criteria on the basis of which pieces can be attributed. The book includes almost all Kakiemon objects from the collection of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.
