This publication features the 97 pieces of porcelain kindly donated in 2008 to the Shanghai Museum by Henk B. Nieuwenhuys of the Netherlands. The pieces are all export wares, many of which were rarely seen in the Chinese domestic market. Apart from one piece of Japanese Imari ware, the other ninety-six pieces are all blue and white porcelain fired in Jingdezhen, dating from the Wanli reign of the Ming to the Kangxi reign of the Qing. The collection was formed through efforts of Mr. Nieuwenhuys' grandfather and father as well as himself.
